Welcome to The Mother-Hood,

I’m so glad you’re here!

If you’re a new mama with a babe between 0-6 months old and you’re feeling lost, overwhelmed and isolated, then you’re in the right place.

The Mother-hood is a ten week support group that helps new mums in the Macedon Ranges navigate the early months of motherhood with improved confidence and increased connectedness.

This is the community that I wish I had had as a new mother, both the first and the second time, and the one that so many of my clients have said they wish they’d have had too.

This is the village that we all crave.

A space to come back to you, to explore the way you are feeling about your motherhood and the joys and the challenges it brings. A space to connect with other mothers at a similar stage of life and to share your experiences with one another. This is not just a mother’s group…

This is your hood, your Mother-hood.

What it’s like to be Supported by me:

“Mary, thank you for being the light when shit got dark and being the light when life was bright and sunny. You are an incredible asset and I love everything that flows out of you.”

— din dins

“Thank you so much for all the work you do to cultivate community around mothering. You are such a gift. I've gained so much from the guided, reflective and vulnerable conversations we've had as a group oveer the last three months. I will really miss our Monday morning sessions together.”

— Linsey

“Mary, thank you for the way that you authentically have cultivated our community of mothers. By bringing your whole self to your work you helped me find permission to show up as my authentic self too, even when things were hard. My deep gratitude.”

A little about me…

Over the past four years I have been working for myself as a pregnancy, birth and postpartum doula, educator and mentor and in these years I’ve worked with countless families through the huge transition of adding a baby to a family. What I have observed time and time again through my work, and my personal experience is that we mothers are all in need of more. More love, more compassion, more connectedness, more reassurance, more respite, more nourishment and an improved sense of belonging.

Mary Giordano

Prior to moving to birth work, I worked for 10+ years in the community development sector supporting the capacity development and resilience of mothers and young children from migrant, asylum seeker and refugee backgrounds. It was during these years that I honed my skills and experience in supporting women and children within a strengths-based framework through counselling, solution focused dialogue, mentoring and intuitive guidance. These are the same skills I use now to support families in the perinatal period.

At the heart of all of this are my innate skills and experience to meet you where you’re at with love and compassion, to hold space for you and witness your journey, to honour and validate you when you’re feeling vulnerable, lost and overwhelmed, to help you understand that you are accountable for the choices you make and to be able to guide you back to your centre, your inner compass, when you feel like you no longer know who you are.

What it’s like to be Supported by me:

“Thank you so much Mary for holding such a caring, strong space for us to explore all the feelings about journeying into motherhood. What you do has profound impact which I know we will feel for years. I’m so grateful!”

— Kat

“An absolute privilege to be a part of the Mother-hood and highly recommend and encourage any other mummas thinking of joining. My first session, I was 5 days before birth. My last session, I will be just coming out of my fourth trimester. Through The Motherhood, I've been able to deeply discover who I am and want to be as a mother, all the while making incredibly deep and meaningful connections and friendships with my fellow mummas and the incredible Mary.”

— Monica

“Thank you so very much for all your wonderful insights into parenthood. Your wisdom has been much appreciated and has set me up so well and given me so much more confidence to be a mother. I look forward to using all this information as I grow as a parent, and we as a family. Thank you so much for cultivating a lovely community for us all.”
